John Baker (Dixon, IL)- Home inspector
Scotti Whitmire (Knoxville, TN)- Systems administrator

First on the Board:
THE GILDED AGE
"MIS"QUOTES
FAST CARS (first, third & last clues have pictures)
CITY BY POPULATION
TV SHOW HAIKU
SHEEP (Clue Crew clues from the Tobruk Sheep Station in Australia)

Richard's in Lock Game Territory at halftime w/ $4K, leaving John w/ $1,200 & Scotti w/ $800. W/ three clues to go (including the last two on Sheep), John nabs the Daily Double to close out The Gilded Age & he's in first place w/ $4,800; Richard's not too far behind him w/ $3,600 & the same goes for Scotti, as she's sitting on $2,800. John tries to retain his lead w/ another $1,800 because of this clue:

Gilded Age advocates of the theory called "Social" this-ism applauded the "Survival of the Fittest".

"What is Darwinism?"...that's $6,600 & we don't get to the $1K Sheep answer before time runs out.

SOLE ATTEMPTED TS: $400 (Sheep)

Scotti could have more than a $2K opportunity at the end of Where'd Ya Get That Title, because a DD just came her way w/ $4,400; John has a $3K lead over her & Richard's down to two thou. She settles for the face value of this bit:

Lorraine Hansberry's title A Raisin in the Sun comes from a line in this poem "Harlem" by this man.

"Who is Dunbar?" is definitely incorrect; the author was Langston Hughes & she's gone back to $2,400, which also means John's in LGT. A little later, Richard goes DD Hunting starting w/ the $800 Discovering Japan screen...& three clues later at the $1,600 clue, he's got it at the $2,800 mark; he trails Scotti by $800 & leader John by $1,800. The champ risks $1,200:

Though he didn't make it all the way to "Cipango", he reported it had "...gold in the greatest abundance".

He doesn't remember Marco Polo. And there's not enough time for all this:

The Gilded Aged: $1,600
Discovering Japan: $2K
Rhyme Club: ALL

SOLE ATTEMPTED TS: $1,600 (Language Lab)
UNATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $4,400

FINAL J! SUBJECT: Airline History.

Clipper Goodwill, a Boeing 727, took this airline's last passengers from Barbados to Miami December 4, 1991.

Scotti Whitmire's last response this game was "What is Pan A" after originally going w/ Eastern...no good & that takes away $2,801 to stop the lady at $1,999; her suggested betting range in this 3/4 betting situation was $1,001-$1,200. John Baker completes the query of "What is Pan Am"...which is indeed right to win the title w/ $11,300. Richard Block, who responded w/ Caribbean Air, goes home w/ $19,601.

TPiR: Since Mike became the executive producer of the program back in 2009, Monday's ending was the first time I've ever seen a Showcase car behind one door get replaced by an automobile won in a Pricing Game the same day. Also, that day's Pick-a-Number continued the recent tradition of having Chevrolet cars won by PG winners in non-car games who went on to win the Showcase, w/ Grocery Game being the exception during that period (a Mercury Milan was won back in '08, then a Toyota Tacoma a few weeks ago).

Today, Contestant's Row gets filled out by Alexander Aiello, Kyeshia Hughes, Michael Brannin & Frances Frizelle & coming down the ceiling first's the pair of Archos tablets (IUFB/truck cue).

Alexander: $849/Kyeshia: $1,300/Michael: $1K/Frances: $750

Those $800 electronics belong to Frances (a dental hygienist from Seattle) & now she plays 1/2 Off (Rachel on the left, Amber on the right).

1. Pitcher ($20) & condiment set ($18)
2. Cake pop maker ($20) & passport cover ($8)
3. Toaster oven ($25) & iron ($20)

Believe it or not...she only gets the $40 pitcher right, so the cover was $16 (& she just gave a ZONK ANSWER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE) & that was a $50 oven.

BOXES LEFT: #2, #3, #6, #7, #9, #12, #13 & #16

Frances lets Rachel take it easy by bringing #16...but she completely misses it (so the big bucks were in #2).

The fifth calldown's Tenise Juge & the second one-bid's going to be about a three-night trip to the MacArthur Palace courtesy of the Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau (Door #6)(new piano cue).

Alexander: $1,700/Kyeshia: $2K/Michael: $1,801/TENISE: $1,800 (& Drew does his occasional mimicking of a player's voice)

BREAKING NEWS: Jim Paratore dead

J!: No matter what happens, Joel Pool's at least second in the Tournament of Champions Standings behind Jason Keller. Trying to stop him in this game are:

Daphne Moulton (Lakeville, MA)- Finance administrator
Richard Block (Diamond Bar, CA)- Author/writer

In the Offering To Begin:
ANNUAL EVENTS
PSYCHOLOGY
READINGS FROM 1984
ORG. ABBREV.
COMIC BOOKS
"OW"! "OOF"! "ACK"! (the $200 clue's about "vowels" from "Wheel"!)

Shortly after Joel's INSTANT SWEEP of Comic Books, Daphne picks off the Daily Double under the $600 Org. Abbrev; besides Joel's $3K, Richard has $200. Daphne tries to double her $400 w/ this clue:

"Fighting for air (medically": ALA

"What is the American Legal Association?"...second word's incorrect- it was the American Lung Assoc. She finishes this half of the J! Round w/ $600, while Joel slightly leads Richard $2,800-$2,400. We run out of time on each of the last two clues for Annual Events & Readings From '84.

ATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $1,600
SOLE UNATTEMPTED TS: $1K (Org. Abbrev.)
TOTAL LACH TRASH: $2,600

Daphne: $800

KNIGHT WEAR

Joel gets a DD to pop up for him underneath the $1,600 answer about Rubber w/ $5,600; Daphne has half his score & Richard's still in first at $8,200. The champ risks its face value.

In 1853, this American wrote about his vulcanization discovery in "gum elastic and its varieties".

"Who is (Charles) Goodyear?"...that was him to bump him up to $7,200, but he then gives $2K right back to an incorrect response on the last clue there. Not enough time for either of the last two Knight Wear clues or the $2K one regarding Virtuosi, so one of those three has this evening's last DD hidden from view.

ATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $4K (Rubber- $800, $1,200 & $2K)
UNATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $2K
TOTAL DJ! LACH TRASH: $6K

Totals After DJ!:

Richard: $13,800
Daphne: $6,400

FINAL J! SUBJECT: Classic Mystery Novels.

A letter in this mystery says "We are going...to Luxor and Assuan by steamer, and perhaps on to Khartoum".

Everyone wrote "What is Murder on the Orient Express?"...no, it was Death on the Nile. Bets:

Joel: BUSTED (he leaves regular competition w/ $117,800)
Daphne: $4K = $2K
Richard: $1,799 = $12,001

"LIVE! With Kelly" notes

Regarding this morning's episode:

-Due to a script error, one commercial break bumper had announcer Tony Pigg incorrectly announce that Jessica Sanchez had won "American Idol" last week.
-Speaking of "Idol", Phillip Phillips had to call into the show early last Thursday to announce he had to cancel his scheduled appearance due to his kidney surgery.
-One of the demonstrated backyard games featured a small Pl!nko-like board for a version of Twister.

Jason Miller FIRED by UFC
